What to Expect
You might
get your boots dirty in our “natural”
parking lot,
but inside …
As you arrive … Come on in, grab a
cup of coffee in our café –it’s on us – or bring your own if you
prefer. Yes, you can
take it to your seat.
Don’t be surprised if someone says “hello” and seems genuinely glad
to see you. We’re like that.
When does the Sunday service
start? 10 a.m.
What’s the service like?
Usually there’s some music,
sharing of information about other happenings at the church, and a
teaching time presented by our pastor or another church leader –
though not necessarily all in that order. The programmed part ends
between 11 and 11:30, depending on what’s on the program that day.
Afterward, people tend to hang out for a few minutes to connect with
friends and make new ones, or to talk about what we’ve just heard.
Come on over, and bring the kids.
Childcare is available during the teaching time for children 3 and
under. Our volunteers
are background-checked and most are infant CPR certified. Our
PromiseKidz program for kids up through elementary grades also runs
during the teaching time, except during the summer months, when we
usually give our volunteer staff a break. During the summer, we have
quiet activity packs available for kids of all ages. But don’t worry
if they make a little noise. Most of us are parents too, we get it.
Do I need to dress up? This isn’t
the opera. (No.)
How will I know when to stand, kneel, etc.?
You can kneel if you want to, but we don’t have kneelers
or set times or places where kneeling is expected. Sitting in your
seat is just fine. We
often stand during part of the music but we’ll tell you when to do
that, and you’ll probably notice when others are doing it.
And you can sit if you like, or if standing is uncomfortable
for you.
Will you ask me for money?
We don’t pass the hat in our
services and won’t ask our guests to pay for coming to visit. We are
much more concerned that you find you can make a connection with God
and with other people here.
